The battle of Shiloh occurred between April 6th and 7th in 1862, and both the Union Army, led by Ulysses S. Grant, and the Confederate Army, led by Albert Sydney Johnston, suffered major casualties during the fighting.   Shiloh was the first large scale battle of the US Civil War; moreover, the US Navy was also involved as they shelled the confederates from the Tennessee River.  Shiloh National Park is just 22 minutes away from Shiloh Chennault.
